cut off complete (for me) now what?

I have not spoken to my inlaws since November of last year. I did not attend Christmas and they tried to invite themselves over for my birthday in January. DH has been still hoping that somehow the relationship can be fixed and wanted me to send MIL a letter, spelling out what my issues are with her.
